Before joining Pomco, he served as Senior Vice President of HealthNow New York, Inc., which owned two Blue companies and a large TPA, HealthNow Administrative Services (HNAS). His responsibilities included full P&L oversight for all commercial Blue business, TPA, and brokerage operations, totaling more than $2.8 billion annually. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of HNAS, with operations in Blue Bell, PA, and Sacramento, CA.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Thompson was Chief Revenue Officer of HealthAxis, a publicly traded BPO and technology company based in Dallas, TX. The company provided technology and BPO services for health plan administration to insurance companies, health systems, TPAs, and other organizations.

Mr. Thompson also founded and operated his own TPA in California and Arizona for 16 years, growing the organization to more than 120,000 covered lives before selling it in 2001. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of Dun & Bradstreet Plan Services for eight years, with P&L responsibility for 16 carrier group programs nationwide. He began his career at Aetna, where he served as an Account Executive managing life, health, pension, and international benefits.

Mr. Thompson is a past Chairman of the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIIA), a past President of both his local NABIP and NAIFA chapters, and a former Board Member of CAHU. He has also served on several non-industry boards and has been actively involved in shaping both state and federal healthcare regulation. An accomplished speaker, he has delivered more than 650 presentations nationwide. He is also an avid automobile and racing enthusiast.
